Hi, this is Olga Gonzalez, and this is how to tell the carat weight of an oval sapphire. Sapphires are absolutely gorgeous gemstones, and they come in a range of colors – not just the blue that you normally think of. If you’re trying to tell the weight of a sapphire, you’re going to be using the metric carat. The metric carat is about one-fifth of a gram, equal to the weight of about a paperclip. The best way to do this is to measure it on a carat scale.
