Hi, my name is Eylene Pirez, and I'm an astrophysicist. And this is can landforms exist on other planets and moons and why? So, first of all let's talk about what are landforms. Landforms can be lakes, volcanoes, mountains, rifts. It can be anything that has a shape on a terrestrial surface. So first let's talk about what ate good candidates for landforms. The inner planets are all good candidates because they have a terrestrial surface. So, Mercury, Venus, and Mars. They can all have landforms. And we see volcanoes, we see hills, we see lakes, we see everything on these terrestrial planets. So they do have landforms. And that's because all these planets are also dynamic, that at some point they had the heat in the core. And this created movement inside the planet. There were a lot of impacts and things that hit it. That changed the surface continuously. Most of them have an atmosphere with a lot of erosion and wind which continually changes the atmosphere and creates more and different landforms. Now let's talk about other moons. Moons, most of them have landforms and a lot of the moons have gone through a lot of impacts and a lot of bombardments. And some of the best candidates are like the outer planets, like Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. All of these planets have a lot of moons. Saturn itself has over 60 moons. So, these planets actually have really good number of good size moons that have many, many types of landforms on them. My name is Eylene Pirez and I'm an astrophysicist.
