Hi, my name is Eylene Pirez, and I'm an astrophysicist, and this is, "Which planet is closest in size and diameter to our moon?" So, our moon is fairly small, I mean it's fairly big for a satellite, but fairly small compared to most planets, but Mercury being the smallest planet is the closest candidate that we have to being the most similar to our moon. The diameter of our moon is 3,474, and this is in kilometers. And it weighs 7.3 times 10 to the 22 kilograms. Now, so what does Mercury look like in terms of size and diameter? Well, the diameters of Mercury is only 4,879 kilometers, and it weighs 32.8 time 10 to the twenty second kilograms. So it's about five times its mass, but only a little bit over the size of the actual diameter. So mercury would be the closest planet in size and diameter to our moon. My name is Eylene Pirez, and I'm an astrophysicist, and this is, "Which planet is closest to our moon in size and diameter?".
