Hi, my name is Christina, and this is Veteran's Day crafts for kids. We're going to be using construction paper to make a soldier craft to teach kids about the military and the importance of our soldiers. For this project we're going to be using a glue stick, crayons, construction paper and geometric shape cutouts. With small children, it's often easier to have the pieces already cut out. Here I have all the pieces to make the soldier. The children get to place each piece, learning about shapes and body placement, while developing motor skills and creativity. It's helpful to give them a starting place. We'll tell them to first glue down the body, and then glue down all the limbs and the head drawing a face as we go. Each body part is a different shape. You can have cut out feet here that resemble an oval, the legs are rectangles as well as the body, and then the head is a circle and the helmet is a half circle. Once their soldier is assembled, they can draw the face. They can even practice their writing skill by writing happy Veteran's Day or naming a veteran that they know. Teaching children through crafts about our veterans is a great way to honor them and teach them how they've served to protect our freedom. Thanks for watching.
