My name is Susan Combs, and today we're going to talk about tests for health insurance. With tests for health insurance this is something, keep in mind, that is going to be going the wayside as of 2014 with the affordable care act. But right now if you're signing up for any health insurance, depending upon the state that you live in, actually 37 of the states go through medical underwriting. And so when they go through medical underwriting sometimes they just ask for a questionnaire but then if anything's flagged up then sometimes they ask for doctors records or they ask for additional medical test review to make sure that you're a good risk for them to take on. So the tests that are usually associated with it are, you know, knowing if you're a smoker or non-smoker, drug use, diabetes, your liver functions, your protein levels, and the big one is HIV and Aids. So those are typically the tests that they're looking for to see if you're going to be a good risk for them. But keep in mind, like I said, 2014 everybody has to be treated the same and all the medical underwriting goes out the door and they cannot deny you coverage as of January 1st.
