My name is Susan Combs, and we're gonna talk today about why have SR-22 insurance. With SR-22 insurance if you're looking at this video you probably know why you have to have SR-22 insurance. SR-22 is actually a form rather than insurance. If you've had a DWI or a DUI then you're going to be required to have this SR-22 filed on your behalf. So how it works if you have a vehicle in any single state you're required to have insurance. So if you've had a DWI or a DUI then the insurance companies in the state want to keep tabs on you. So the state that you live in is going to require you to have the insurance company file this form on your behalf and it showed that you have proof of insurance and it's going to show the limits and all that good stuff. So the thing to keep in mind on this is it's done by state so if you're required to have the SR-22 or the SR-26 is another form that's usually in congruence. If you're required to have this and you move to a different state you need to make sure that you go ahead and get that form again at the new state because like I said it's only filed on your behalf with that state and what's gonna happen when you move out of the state, the state's gonna get a cancellation notice and you can get in trouble so the main thing to do is if you need to have this form filed talk to your insurance company, they'll file it on your behalf with the state and if you move you need to make sure that take care of it in the next state your at.
