Hi, this is Katie. I’m the founder and blogger of Pear Shaped Girl. Today, we’re here at Ann Taylor. We’re going to talk about what not to wear if you’re petite with large hips and thighs. That’s my body type, so I consider myself an expert! If you’re petite, when you wear a skirt that’s too long, it’s going to make you look stumpier. You want to make sure that the length of your skirt hits at the knee, which is one of the narrowest parts of your leg. This is going to create a longer, leaner look. What’s really important if you’re a petite size with large hips and thighs is to make sure that there’s proportion in your pants and jeans. Fortunately, there’s a lot of really fantastic petite sizes out there, so you don’t have to look too far. It’s really important to make sure that the knee breaks on your pants in the right spot. If you’re wearing pants that are made for a longer or a taller person, the knee is going to break in the middle of your calf, and it’s going to look completely disproportionate. So, look for petite sizes that are going to be cut in the right spot. Also, a nice top that accentuates your waist is going to create a leaner look for you. This is a great belted look with a peplum top, so it creates a nice long line, and is elongating and slimming.
