Hi, this is Katie. I’m the founder and blogger of Pear Shaped Girl. We’re here at Ann Taylor today to talk about the question, “Do boot cut jeans or skinny jeans make you look thinner?” The answer is, really it all depends. If you have large hips or thighs, boot cut jeans are definitely going to create a longer, leaner look for you. They’re going to even out your thighs, and the knee break at the end of the pant is going to make you look thinner. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t wear skinny jeans. Just opt for a dark denim. I always try and go up a size, and have my tailor take them in in the waist to make sure that they fit appropriately. And, always make sure that you have your pants hemmed at the right place – that can make or break whether or not they look flattering. Lastly, make sure that you have a knee break that hits at your knee, and not in the middle of your calf. So, if you’re petite, look for petite sizes. And, that’s how you can make either boot cut or skinny jeans flattering for you.
