Hi. I'm Rachel, and today we're going to be going over how to find the quadratic formula from a graphic. Now I'm assuming that the correct title for this is graph since generally you find a quadratic equation from a graph. So first let me just show you that. Generally you want to find 2 points, usually one is going to be the vertex of the parabola, right we're dealing with parabolas here. And you're also going to want to find another point on the parabola. And you're going to put it into this form. Y minus Y1, right whatever that point is equals A times the quantity of X minus X 1 squared. Then once you go to into this form, right you plug in your points right, until you find 2 points. So you plug in those 2 points for a Y and those 2 points for X so you can solve for A. And you want to get it into standard form. Standard form for a quadratic equation is Y equals A X squared plus B X, plus C. That's the standard form for a quadratics. Now a quadratic formula is a little different. Generally when we talk about the quadratic formula we're talking about X equals negative B plus or minus the square root of B squared minus 4 AC right all in the square root, all over 2A. So once you find the standard form of the quadratic equation, if you want to find the quadratic formula from the graph you have to put it in this form.
