Hi, I'm Rachel, and today we're going to be going over fun ways to teach percents to sixth grade students. So, I like to use fun examples. One thing you can do is suggest, you know, a fun activity, like we're all gonna go on a ski trip, you know, to the snow. So, we can say things like 40 percents of the kids, you know, are gonna actually go skiing. Maybe 25 percents are gonna go snow boarding. Maybe, you know, 15 percent are gonna sit in the cabin and drink hot cocoa, some percentage are gonna go sledding, and then, the kids will have to figure out, you know, how many that is depending on how many people there are, what the percent is, out of 100. And, that can be a really fun way, you know, to do percents. You could also have them do a survey, and figure out, you know, okay, how many of us have, you know, pets? How many of us, you know, like this certain type of ice cream? And, that can also be a great way, then. It can be very interactive, you know. You know, maybe 50 percent of them like chocolate chip ice cream, and you know 60 percent like peppermint, or whatever it is. You can think of lots of different fun examples and, you know, get them up on their feet, and you know, figuring out what are the different percentages, so that's really fun. I'm Rachel, and thanks for learning with us today.
