Hello, everyone. I'm Joshua Clement, and today I'm going to talk to you about how to caulk a window air conditioner. Now, it's very important to choose the right type of caulk. You wanna choose a caulk that is not a silicone caulk. You also wanna make sure that you choose a caulk that is paintable, that way when you're going around painting, you can actually have the paint stick to your caulk rather than just beading up on it. For this job, you will need a tube of paintable caulk and a caulking gun. You wanna cut the tip of the caulk at about a 45 degree angle, and leave just a little hole on the tip of it, that way you don't get an overflow of caulk. Now, if this is a temporary installation of a window air conditioner, you don't wanna caulk around the sides of it, you just wanna put in a insulation. The caulk is going to end up sticking there and peeling off the existing paint on your window sill. But, what you do wanna caulk is right across this channel, up top. A lot of times, there'll be a warm air flow, right through this channel where it connects to your frame. So, we'll take the caulk, put it right in the corner, and just squeeze a little bit out. After we have a little bit on there, we're going to take our finger and run it right down the seam of that. Now, go ahead and do it again, just to make sure that everything is sealed and isn't an eye sore. It's important to cut down as much warm air flow through the window unit as possible, that way, your cooling bill doesn't go sky high. Thank you all for watching and good luck with this project.
