Hi, everyone! I’m Dr. Tabasum Mir, of Mir Skin Dermatology here in New York City. A lot of my male patients coming in and asking me about why their aftershave irritates their skin, and what they can do about that, and is there another thing that can use instead of regular old aftershave? The fact is, aftershave can be really irritating to skin, especially freshly-shaven skin, because there’s a high amount of alcohol in it, and the alcohol can be very irritating. You do have a alternate product that you can use called aftershave balm. Now, the aftershave balms actually have a high degree of emollients in it, and a very low to almost zero amount of alcohol. So, these can actually moisturize the skin and soothe the skin after shaving, and sometimes are a lot better option if you get really irritated by aftershave lotions. So, let me kind of describe to you the steps of using the aftershave balm. After you’re done shaving and you’ve already pat-dry your skin, you want to place a pea-size amount of the aftershave balm into one of your palms, and then run the lotion together between your hands for a few seconds. After this, put the aftershave balm all over your face onto the areas you’ve already shaven. Rub gently, and continue rubbing until all of your skin has absorbed the balm – that is, there is no more visible balm left on the skin. Thanks for joining! I hope you appreciated my tips. I’m Dr. Tabasum Mir, of Mir Skin.
