Hello, everyone. I’m Joshua Clement, and today I’m going to talk to you about how to clean a blocked plumbing vent. Now, a lot of times what happens is animals, birds, stuff like that gets into your plumbing vent and it ends up clogging it up and messing up the flush of the toilet or the drain of the tub. For this job, we’ll be using a plumbing snake. So, here is an average-size plumbing vent – it’s a three. And, what you’ll do is you’ll take your plumbing snake and go to the vent and start putting the snake down through the top of the vent. So, once the snake comes into contact with the clog, it’ll stop this rod right here, allowing you to push it down. So, then you’ll simply turn the handle on the snake and it’ll wrap the little spikes on the end of the snake into the object that’s clogging your pipe. And then, after you get it in there and you make sure that it’s connected, you should be able to tell from the line right here starting to twist and kink. After that, you’ll simply pull out on your snake, which will pull the object right out of the pipe. If you leave those objects inside your plumbing vent, one thing that could happen is you can get a nasty smell coming through the house of sewage. You also might be able to smell an animal that has died inside that pipe, so it’s a good idea to go ahead and clean those whenever you find out that it’s clogged. Thank you all for watching. Good luck with this project!
