I’m Aaron Tucker, and this is signs that jeans are ripping. Jeans are comprised of two different threads. You have a warped thread, which is the dyed thread. You have a weft thread, which is the white thread. That’s what makes jeans, jeans – the fact that these two threads are woven together. Usually, you can tell that your jeans are ripping because that weft – the white thread – is starting to become exposed. You want to keep an eye out for this, because if you catch it early enough, you can prevent your jeans from spreading in the ripped area. You can either get a patch – an easy iron-on on the other side – that’ll keep the material together. But, depending on what the denim is and where the rip is, you can do a quick stitch. Really not that big of an issue, unless you let the rip spread. But, these days, ripped jeans are all the rage, so why not just let it do what it does?
