Hi, my name is Stephan. Today, I'm going to be speaking on simplifying algebraic equations for kids. Let's say, we have the equation two-X plus four equals 10. Now, to simplify this, a good way to look at this is, you want to do the same thing to both sides. You know, and since we want to get, we always want to get the valuable by itself on one side. You wan to remove this four on this side. So, you'll add by the negative of this number here, four. So, since we're adding both sides by negative four, you come up with this. Two-X equals six. These cancel and you get six on this side. And now, what you want to do is, you want to get the variable by itself. So, you want to do the same thing to both sides. And to get the variable by itself, you're going to divide both sides by two. Because this side equals this side, so this side divided by two is equivalent to that side divided by two. And when you simplify that, the two's cancel and you get X by itself. And six divided by two, that equals three. So, you always want to do the same thing to both sides when simplifying.
