Hi, I'm Kristin Koury, I'm a personal chef. There's lots of different thermometers out there that you can use to monitor the temperature of foods and liquids. Today I'm gonna talk to you about the cord thermometer, also known as a remote thermometer. It typically has a display and a separate probe. All models are different, but mine you can just insert this into the side and then you have your probe. I can use it inside of an oven or on top of the stove. I like to use it on top of the stove with this in a saucepan to monitor the temperatures of liquids. So I can walk away and not worry about it. I can also use this to monitor the temperature of a roast. You'll see in your recipe what temperature it should go to, but you'd put this inside the roast, close the door, this hangs out, and then this sits on the counter. All models are different, but mine, I can set it to the temperature that my recipe says that it should be at when it's done, and it will beep and tell me it's done, which is really, really handy.
