Good day, everyone. I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors, and today I'm going to talk to you about how to install a compression fitting shut-off valve. Now for this job you'll need a couple things. For this job we will be using a half inch compression shut-off valve, an adjustable wrench, if you have a pipe wrench, that works too, and our copper. So the first thing we're going to do is go ahead and remove the nut from the compression fitting. And inside there is a compression ring. Start with we're going to take the nut, slide it over our copper, then take our compression ring and slip it over the copper. Now we're going to take the compression shut off valve, and slide it on to the copper until it stops. Then we'll slide the nut forward and begin to tighten. I'm going to go ahead and hand tighten it and then I'll take my adjustable wrench, put it right on to the side, go ahead and hold your compression fitting and tighten it down. Make sure you don't over tighten because what will happen is that ring that's inside will actually warp and a lot will leak. You just want to get it nice and snug to where you can not pull it off and it won't go anywhere. Then you'll go ahead and do the same thing on the other side. I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors and we just talked about how to install a compression fitting shut-off valve. Thank you all for watching and good luck with this project.
