Hey, everybody, Joe Liptock, audio engineer here. Today, I'm going to be discussing about HDMI cables, MacBook Pros and hooking it up to your TV with no audio. What do I mean by this? Well you may have a MacBook or a laptop in general that you want to hook up to your TV or an external monitor via HDMI cable. Now HDMI cable can carry video signal and audio signal so what if you only want it to carry video signal and you want to maintain the audio to be coming out your sound system that you have hooked up to your laptop? This is how you do it. First plug in the HDMI cable into your laptop. Then plug in the HDMI cable into the external monitor. Then you want to make sure that the sound is coming out of the original sound system, not the HDMI cable. On a Mac to do this, go to the main settings, system settings, click on sound, click on the output tab and make sure that it's coming out of the sound system you want it to, not the HDMI cable. On the Windows side, the equivalent would be control panel, audio and sound devices and make sure your output is set to the original sound system there. There you have it, now you have video no your external monitor and audio is still coming out of your original sound system. I hope this video is awesome. I hope you enjoyed it. I hope you learned something. My name is Joe Liptock. Thanks for watching guys.
