Hi, I'm Dave Marciniak with Revolutionary Gardens, and today we're gonna talk about how to landscape around an air conditioner. One of the first things you want to think about is making sure that you allow 24 inches of clearance around your air conditioning unit. My HVAC guy has told me this is really, really important to maintain the efficiency of your air conditioning unit. If you have stuff a little bit too close to that what happens is it ends up decreasing the efficiency of your air conditioning unit, your utility bills go up, your longevity of the unit goes down and that's not something you want. Another consideration when it comes to landscaping around an air conditioning unit is you want to make sure that you allow access for that technician to get in and do repairs. Believe me your repair bill is gonna be a lot higher on that 99 degree day when your air conditioning goes out that technician has to fight his way through a whole bunch of stuff to get to your unit. Finally you want to come up with something that's gonna be evergreen, something like this Nandina to screen your air conditioning unit so that way you have screening all year long. You also want to make sure something like this it's going to be upright and columnar and easy to maintain so again you're not having to trim it off your air conditioning unit to come up with those efficiency issues. So to recap you want to keep 24 inches around your air conditioning unit, you want to provide access for a technician, and you want to come up with something evergreen and easy to maintain around your air conditioning unit. Again, my name is Dave Marciniak with Revolutionary Gardens and I been talking about how to landscape around an air conditioning unit.
