Hi, this is Nadiyah Abdul, and we're hanging out at Fresh from Earth. We had a question on how to treat burns that occur on the hair and the scalp from a perm. Burns from a perm are caused by a flawed process in applying the perm, if the perm is left on the hair too long or if it is a bad chemical. Perms contain a highly corrosive ingredient called sodium hydroxide. This is an acid that caused the burning on the scalp. So, in order to treat the burning, you want to use some aloe vera juice. Aloe vera juice is going to restore the pH of the skin and stop the painful burning sensation. You also want to make sure that you are keeping your hair moisturized. Use a neutralizing shampoo immediately to react the chemical reaction, to balance the chemical reaction. Also you can use vitamin E to heal and repair the scalp. This is Nadiyah Abdul, and this is how you treat burns to the hair and scalp from a perm.
