Hi my name is Hilda Levierge and I'm a professional makeup artist. Today I'm going to be teaching you how to keep your lips hydrated in the winter. When it's cold outside our lips really tend to get dry and chapped and chapped lips are very painful and they also seem to never heal. So it's really hard to apply lipstick when your lips are chapped and rough and dry and using a lip balm is definitely going to protect them and heal them from the chapped and keep them nice and moist and smooth and even so that you can apply lipstick, you can wear lip balm alone and it's just always going to protect your lips. Using a lip balm that has SPF is really important because the skin on your lips is actually really thin. And it's probably the thinnest skin, other than the skin right underneath your eyes, on your entire face. So it's really important to use an SPF to protect that skin. Also in the winter months, you might not realize it but you're still getting the damaging effects of the suns rays. If you live in a place where there's snow or you're skiing, the snow actually reflects the sun so it's even more possible to get a burn on your face and definitely on your lips. So definitely you want to use a lip balm that has an SPF and is going to be really moisturizing and nourishing to your lips to protect them. So today on Marie I'm going to be using Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Moisturizing Balm and it has an SPF of 20 in it. This has also got a really nice clean peppermint taste to it so it's going to taste great. So lip balm is really easy to apply. You just, right out of the tube, just open your mouth a little bit. Just start at the center of the lip and work your way around, down into the middle of the bottom lip and around, back up to the other half of the lip. You can just do a double coat if you want, depending on how dry your lips are. And what I like to do is ex-foliate my lips. So you can do that in the morning, after you brush your teeth, just gently rub the lips with your toothbrush and that helps to just whisk away any dead skin cells or anything that's on your lips that's going to prevent them from being nice and smooth. You can also do that with a warm wash cloth and just really gently rub your lips to ex-foliate them. Just like you would the rest of your skin on your face, you still need to ex-foliate your lips. Lip balm can be worn alone or with a lip liner and lipstick. It will help the product go on smoothly and last longer. So using a lip balm is the best way to keep your lips hydrated in the winter months. Thanks for watching, I'm Hilda Levierge.
