Hi, I'm Rick Koller, the chief operations officer for Criterium-Tauscher Cronacher Professional Engineers and we're going to talk about waterproofing basement products. When you take a look at this foundation wall obviously this is the exterior of the house. You can see the different coloration here that this client has chosen to use an application that is a water resistant type product. It seals the concrete and it seals the cracks. Now by no means is this a guarantee that you won't get water into the basement but this type of product is a great preventative for making sure that any type of water is going to be stopped here. Some of your other options is to put on a similar product in the interior of the foundation wall and do that in the basement. Doing the exterior wall can be a little bit more difficult because as we do the whole area of the house, we may have to dig below the grade and get some dirt away from the foundation to do the right job. The reason why they've chosen to do it here is because this is a stairwell walking into a basement door and this can easily be put on with a roller or a paintbrush type of an application. We would also recommend that large cracks and large joints be filled with a cement or repointed before you put this application on to make sure that you are getting the most out of the sealant that you are putting on. Now in the event that your basement is getting extensive water all the time, this isn't going to do the job. It's at those times that we recommend that you do call a professional, have somebody come in and give you the best option because you are going to be spending some money on that repair and we want to make sure that you are getting every bang for your dollar. Again this is Rick Koller, the chief operations officer for Criterium-Tauscher Cronacher Professional Engineers and these are some basic waterproofing basement products.
