Hi, this is Donna Emery from Glover Nursery in West Jordan, Utah. Today, we're talking about how to care for tulip bulbs in pots. You can buy these in the Spring already in pots like we have here at the nursery or if you want them for a planter on your porch or deck, plant them in the pot in the Fall. Give them a good fertilizing at the time you plant them and when you see the shoots start to come up, give them a little bit of fertilizer again in the Spring. Once the flowers have finished blooming you need to come in and take off just the flower head. Leave the foliage alone because that needs to feed the bulb for next year. So let it go completely yellow or brown before you cut it back. If it's a large pot you can leave the tulips in there for perhaps another year or two or you can transplant them to your garden. Fertilize regularly, every year and water as needed. They don't like a lot of water but they do need to be watered at least once or twice a week deeply. This is Donna Emery from Glover Nursery.
