Hello, everyone. I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors, and today I want to talk to you about how to install a ceiling fan in a location where there's no power. For this job you're going to need a couple different things. For this job I'll be using a battery powered drill with a Phillips tip bit, an old extension cord that I've stripped the wires on so that way I can have something to hook my ceiling fan to, and some screws. You will also need a hammer and some cable staples. So here we have a location that we would like to put a ceiling fan but there's no power to it. Instead of having to snake a line completely through the house over to your electrical box what we're going to do is we're going to install a plug in to the outlet. So to get started we have our mounting bracket here. What we'll do is we'll put it up against the ceiling, go ahead and install it without a box, because when your fan cover goes over it it's basically a box. So what we'll do is we'll go ahead and install that here. And right here we have located a place with our stud so that way we have something to screw into that's nice and secure. That way when we put our ceiling fan up it's not going to wobble real bad or fall down. Now that we have our bracket up we're going to go ahead and set our wire in there. We will take our cable, run it through the box, make sure that we have adequate amount of wire for our ceiling fan. Then we're going to take our staples, put our wire up close to the ceiling and hammer it into place. Now we have our power source run to our bracket. What we're going to do is we're going to put or down rod on here. Then you'll go ahead and in stall your fan the rest of the way. Now if you don't like this look here of just the power cord running they do have trim that you can install across the ceiling and down the wall to an outlet. What you do here is you take and you run your wire through the end of it, all the way through and to your outlet. I'm Joshua Clement with Lighty Contractors, and we just discussed how to install a ceiling fan in a place where you don't have any power. Thanks for watching and good luck with this project.
