Hi, I'm Danielle Valiente with Atmosphere Salon and our topic is how to use spiral hair rods. Spiral hair rods come in all sizes. I've chosen to use a really large one for a bigger curl pattern and I'm taking quite large sections here. It's going to be directed away from the face so when you come in with the rod, point it facing down and then just wrap the hair around the rod. Now when you are working with the smaller spiral rods, the ends tend to stay in the rod a little bit better just by folding the rod but on the larger rods, you need to use an elastic. It just helps secure the ends so that they don't fall out and I just secure it right over the hair that's at the end and then just fold down each end of the spiral rod, fold the top end down, bottom end up. And that will just hold right in place. I've already pre-wrapped the rest of the head so that I can show you what the finished product would look like. So when you remove the rod, open up the ends and then roll it out and you can see it creates a nice soft wave. Again I chose to go with a larger rod because I did not want anything too tight of a curl, I just wanted a soft loose curl but this is a really great way to create curl in your hair without the use of heat. So these rods are great if you are trying to avoid using heating elements on your hair and you can see it creates a beautiful curl. Again, tighter curl, smaller section, smaller rod, bigger curl, bigger section, bigger rod. And that is how to use spiral hair rods.
