Hi, I'm George Argo with Argo Electrical Services and I am The Surge Protector Guy. Today, let's talk about how to install an electric smoke detector. You can purchase smoke detectors in your local hardware store that doesn't require wire. But all the local codes now, are requiring a 120 circuit to wire up your smoke detector, in case the batteries fail, or you know, the battery's actually just a backup. But all it contains is a neutral wire and a hot wire. And this dude would have a plastic plate that you would screw to your ceiling or wherever you're going, the wall, wherever you're going to install it. And then, you would slide your smoke detector up, it's got two little clips on the inside. You would spin it around and it would lock in place. Once you do that and you turn the power on to the smoke detector, it's got some kind of a signal right on the bottom that would let you know that it works. It also has a test button on the bottom. Feel free to be liberal with your smoke detectors and your smoke, your fire circuit in your property, you can't be too safe. Again, I'm George Argo with Argo Electrical Services and I am The Surge Protector Guy. And you just watched how to install an electrical smoke detector.
