How to Match Wallpaper & Fabric

Hi, I’m Faith Sheridan. I’m in the Seattle Design District at the Polly McArthur showroom, and it’s one of my favorite places in the Design Center area. This cozy little room that I’m standing in has lots and lots of wall coverings, and it’s an inspiration to come here and select wallpapers and fabrics for my projects. I’d like you to know that you can take an inside tip and use the advantages the manufacturers give us for putting together our selections. They provide us not just with the books – which have wallpaper samples and lots of pictures – but they also allow you to request a sample to take home to use in your own home. This wallpaper sample can go home with you where you can tape it on the wall, see how it looks at different times of the day from morning to evening. And, you can decide if you like this pattern or any of the other ones you select, when you see them on your wall. In addition, there are also fabrics that complement the wallpaper. I have a couple of them here to show you. The other key ingredient to selecting wallpaper is to decide which room you want to have wallpaper in. Some key rooms are generally a powder room, dining room, an entry, sometimes a bedroom. However, that said, you want to make a statement with your wallpaper, so you can’t make a statement in every room. The important thing is to find some key areas that you’d like to tell something about yourself and your home. So, as I said, putting the wallpapers together with fabric is easy with the resources that are provided by the manufacturers, so take advantage of them.
