Hi, I’m Faith Sheridan. I have a design firm in Seattle: Faith Sheridan Design Group. And, I’m in the Design District at the Polly McArthur showroom, talking about modern fabrics – and yes, these modern fabrics are polyester, not the old polyester we remember with leisure suits or pilling. These fabrics are 100 percent polyester, and they won’t stretch, fade, shrink, or mildew. They mimic luxury fabrics. They have a beautiful hand. They can be used as draperies. Some can be used on upholstery. So, forget that these are high care, high maintenance fabrics. Instead, these polyester fabrics can be washed. Yes, they can be washed. They are 100 percent polyester fabric. There are fabrics that are also suited for outdoor use. We call those Sunbrella – that’s what most people associate with outdoor fabrics. However, the technical term for those fabrics is solution-dyed. The beauty of the solution-dyed fabrics, like this one, is that it can be used on sofas and chairs, indoors and out. Best yet: If your pet has an accident on your sofa, or your child, or, worse yet, your neighbor, there’s a surprising way you can take care of that spill. You can use mild soap and water, and say goodbye to that potential disaster so you can live comfortably in your home with modern fabrics that are solution-dyed or Sunbrella, and made of polyester fiber. I’m Faith Sheridan, and I’ve talked about modern fabrics today in the Seattle Design Center, and I hope you’ll take a chance and try some modern fabrics in your home.
