Hi, I'm Farm to Table Chef Teca Thompson at tecathompson.com. And today, we're talking about how to pre-soak your corn seed before planting. So, this is a really great method because it help it germinate faster and already soaks it with water that it's going to need. So, I'm just going to start with a little medium size glass bowl and I'm going to pour my corn seed out into it. I've got here a mason jar with warm water and I'm just going to pour it over the corn seed covering it about an inch. Okay. Now, we want to let this sit either overnight or you know, whenever you start, but you want to let it sit for awhile but don't soak it more than 12 hours. So, once it's soaked with the allotted amount of time, I'm just going to take a bigger size bowl and a strainer and I'm going to strain the seeds out. This is called, also called priming the seed and this will be a faster for everything for germination, for planting, for coming out of the ground, all the way to harvest. So, I'm just going to take my seeds out, lay them on a clean paper towel to dry and we're done. So, you want to plant these seeds within 24 hours because after they've soaked, they can start to germinate by themselves, which means that they're going to try to seed and the little sprout come up, but you want them to be in the dirt either in your garden or in a potted plant before this process starts. So, that is how to pre-soak your corn seed before planting. I'm Farm to Table Chef Teca Thompson at tecathompson.com. Thank you for watching.
