Hi, my name is Christina, with DomesticFelicity.com. And today, we’re going to talk about how to get your kids involved in crochet. There are lots of different ways you can do this, but one of the best ways is to expose them by doing it yourself. Make fun, easy projects that they can see and wear or do themselves with just a little bit of practice, and then they will think that, “Hey, I can do that too!” You can also get them involved by joining community groups that are organized around crafts, or showing them friends or family members who can also crochet and make fun things that they themselves would be interested in making. If you’re just looking to get your child interested in crochet, something that’s fun and really simple to do is show them how to make a rope just using crochet chain links. You just start out by making a loop for them – that is a little bit easier to get started if you do that step for them. And then, do straight loops for them, just chaining using your crochet hook. And, it’s easier if you start out using a larger crochet hook. And, just show them to grab it and pull it through, grab it and pull it through. This is very simple. And then, if you’re teaching a boy, you have a rope. Or, if you’re teaching a girl, maybe you have a scarf for their doll. I’ve known kids who spent all afternoon crocheting chain ropes. Thanks so much for watching! My name’s Christina, and today we talked about how to get your kids involved in crochet.
