Hi, my name is Christina with Domesticfelicity.com, and today we're going to talk about safe stairs for infants and toddlers. At the top of your stairs it can be a little bit more tricky but a walk-in gate is best, something that screws into the wall and that opens and shuts for easy access for adults but definite security for toddlers and infants. If it's just the bottom of your stairs that you're worried about right now, a sliding gate is really inexpensive and easy to use but just more, just difficult enough for toddlers so that they can't figure it out. They have locking hinges that secure it inside a doorway or inside of the frame of a stairway. The best way to keep infants and toddlers safe around the stairs is to make sure that they're always supervised by someone who is appropriate. Whether it's a caregiver or a parent, making sure they don't have access to the stairs but then when they do that you're monitoring them so that they are using the stairs safely and you're right there in case there's a problem.
