Hi Dave Johnson editor of eHow Tech and when I think about tech I don’t always just think about gadgets like phones and tablets, I love kitchen toys, I like to cook and I love gadgets that make that easier. Well you may have seen a commercial for the Rollie on television and when I saw it I knew we had to bring one in and take a look and see if it’s a good like Mom’s Day or Dad’s Day kind of gift. Let’s open this up and see what we’ve got. This is the way it came in the mail to me, it doesn’t have super elegant packaging but there’s a whole bunch of things in here so let’s see. We’ve got this little plunger thing, this is how you clean it, it comes with a number of skewers, and here is the rollie itself and what does the rollie do you might ask, it is a gadget that makes eggs and in particular, eggs on a stick. We’ve got a DVD that has recipes on it and a little user guide. So this is pretty much all the stuff. So let’s set this up and actually try making an egg in this and see if it’s delicious and you’ll have to trust me if I tell you that it’s delicious. Okay so welcome to the eHow Tech kitchen. So I’ve got the rollie, it’s all ready to make some eggs, plug it in, after you’ve cleaned it the first time let it dry off. Wait till the green light comes on and then you know it’s ready to cook. There are a lot of recipes that come in the manual, I’m just gonna do a simple one which is two eggs. And you just crack them pour them in there. To start with you need to spray non-stick stuff in there, and now we’re ready to go. Oh that’s a wonderful sound. You can take a skewer and stick it in there. It’s supposed to take about six minutes to make an egg. Why don’t you go watch TV or something for a couple of minutes and we’ll come back when this is ready. Okay welcome back, so it’s been about six or seven minutes, hopefully you can see that when the eggs is done, you know it’s done because it just automatically expands and it starts coming up out of its little cubby. We now have a cooked tubular egg. You can think of it as an omelet, in fact there are a lot of recipes where you can mix like broken crackers or sausage or ham or other you know spices and stuff into this. This is just a plain little egg so it’s all done so let’s get her out of here. One completed egg, and so now you can just clean this out, that’s what this brush is for. So you get it wet and then clean it out and you’re all ready to make another egg. I don’t want to enjoy this all by myself so let’s bring our PA in, Kat. Hey Kat, Hi. So how would you like to take a bite and tell us how you like it? Sure. It’s a little hot. It’s good. Awesome! So if you are looking for something for a kitchen gadget lover in your family, then the rollie is actually a really interesting idea, it’s only about $30, it only makes eggs but it makes like a million variety of eggs and who wouldn’t want to eat a tube-shaped omelet?
