My name is Susan Combs and I'm an insurance broker for Combs and Company. Today, we're going to talk about what does identity theft insurance cover. So if you have ever had your identity stolen, it's just this horrible process and it can be very emotional, it can be very time consuming, so if you actually have identity theft insurance in place it can actually help soften the blow. So the first thing that it typically covers is it covers the money that you are out of pocket. So if somebody steals your identity and they rack up $20,000 in credit cards, then it will help you know, pay that money back to you. It will also help cover legal fees. If you actually are engaged in a lawsuit in this, it will also help to cover lost wages so if you have to be off of work to you know, go through court and things like that it will help with that stuff too. It will also help with a credit counselor so as you can imagine if your identity is stolen and somebody racks up a bunch of credit card debts and things like that, that can be very damaging to your credit score. So it will actually, having a counselor to help repair that credit score can be just invaluable. It also helps with monitoring and prevention so it will actually track your spending and see, you know if anything is out of line and try to help with catching these things before they you know, go so far down the rabbit hole that it just becomes crazy. So the best thing to do is you know, you can talk to a broker but changes are you know, brokers are going to tell you that there's a lot of services out there so if you just Google and Google identity theft insurance, a lot of credit cards actually provide it to you too, so you know, take a look, see what's going to be the best thing out for you and hopefully you won't be a victim of identity theft.
