What Polish to Use on a Grand Piano

Hi, Russell Berkley here, registered Piano Technician in San Diego, California. Today, we're going to talk about polishing a lacquer finish. This is a lacquer finish on a piano. You wont do this on a polyester finish, only a lacquer finish. First you're going to want to use a cleaner that will get the environmental pollution off your piano. So we apply this to a microfiber cloth. But the first thing you do with a microfiber cloth is pull the tag off because that'll scratch the finish more than you can believe, so pull the tag off your microfiber cloth. Apply the cleaner to the microfiber cloth. Don't spray it onto the piano, spray it onto the rag. Wipe it down and this is going to be the cleaner, so we're cleaning the finish first. And then we're going to use the polish, spray it on the rag, and polish the same section we just cleaned. Of course you're going to be doing the whole piano so it's quite a big job.
