Hi, my name is David Alemian, host of the "It's About Money" radio show. You know, I've been a life insurance agent and health insurance agent for over 18 years. People always ask me questions about insurance. And often I get asked, how do you really compare insurance? Well, today, we're going to talk about how to compare cancer insurance? Now, if you're looking to compare cancer insurance, that means you're probably looking to buy cancer insurance, so you're thinking about it. So, you'll want to look at several things, like one, how much is the premium? It's got to be something that you can afford month in, month out. You want to know, Is this an insurance premium that could go up, or can it go down over time? And if it's an insurance premium that can go up or go down, you want to ask, what could cause my insurance premium to go up and what could cause my insurance premium to go down? For example, if you're a smoker, if you stopped smoking, would that lower your premiums? Then, the next question to ask is, how long do you have to stop smoking for your premiums to be lowered, if that would cause your premiums to be lowered. The other thing you want to ask, is what is covered under the policy? You see, cancer insurance only covers cancer. But could there be some types of cancer, like say, skin melanoma that are not covered under the policy? So, you want to be sure to ask, what is not covered as well as what is covered. And other things in the policy that you don't think you really need. Finally ask, does the policy do what you needed to do? Does it give you peace of mind? Well, after you've done this comparison from the various different policies, if you're not absolutely, one hundred percent sure which is the right policy for you. Sit down with an agent and show the agent your comparisons. And talk to the agent about your concerns with the policy and where you, there might be some confusion or questions, and get the agent's opinion. A good agent will ask you a lot of questions, many times that's how you can tell he or she is a good agent. Because they're asking a lot of questions to get information about you, so that they can help you the most.
