Hi, my name is David Alemian, host of the "It's About Money Radio Show." You know I've been an insurance agent for over 18 years and people always ask me different questions about insurance. Today, we're going to talk about how to compare insurance online. Well it's really very simple. Comparing insurance online is very similar to comparing insurance offline. First you might do a search on the type of insurance you are looking to buy and if articles come up, read some of those articles so you can get a better idea and get some more information about the type of insurance that you wish to buy. Now, you want to look at several things when you are finally actually looking at the insurance or proposals or illustrations and that is one, how much is the premium, is it something that you can afford, two will the insurance premium go up or will it remain level over time and if the insurance premium can go up or come down because sometimes insurance premiums do come down, what is it that could cause that insurance premium to go up or come down? The other very important thing is you want to know exactly what does that insurance policy cover and just as important as knowing what it does cover you also want to know what that insurance policy does not cover. Now, does the policy do what you are going to need it to do, does it give you the kind of protection that you want and give you peace of mind and also finally, are there things in that policy that possibly you don't need? Now you line all of these things up and compare each policy next to each other or each proposal next to each other. When it's all said and done, if you are not 100% sure about which of those policies is the right policy for you, contact an insurance agent who specializes in that type of insurance, even tell him or her the types of policies that you've been looking at and what you've seen and what questions that you have. What you will probably find is that if it's a good agent, he or she will ask you a number of questions and possibly even give you some ideas or thoughts that you hadn't thought of. It's always a good idea to talk with an agent, especially when you are doing a comparison because sometimes insurance can be a little bit confusing and get the agent's opinion. It costs you nothing to ask the agent to do this and if you end up buying the insurance through the agent, it won't cost you anymore whether you did it online or did it through an agent and actually you always have an advantage of working with an agent because now you have someone on your side who knows your situation can help you more.
