How to Change Twitter's Widget on Tumblr

Hi, I'm Cathleen Tseng. I'm the owner and creative director of Sunny Kilogram. Tumblr allows you to customize the look of your blog easily. One of the customizations you can do is changing the look of your Twitter widget. Let me show you how to do that right now. Lets get started. First I'm going to show you how to add a Twitter widget to your blog. So pull up Twitter and make sure you're locked in. Click on this gear icon here and scroll down to Settings. One the left hand side choose Widgets and then click on Create new. You can customize these to your liking and I'm going to choose 300 for the Height and leave everything else as is and click on Create Widget. Now I'm going to copy and paste this code so lets go ahead and hit Control-C or Command-C or right click and copy and lets head to our Tumblr. Make sure you're locked in here as well and click on this gear icon for settings. On the left hand side choose the right blog if you have more than one and choose Customize and then click on Edit HTML here. Great now we're in the code of our blog and I think I want to add the Twitter widget to the sidebars. So lets go ahead and do a Control-F or Command-F to look for the word sidebar in quotation marks. Cool, so this is the div, the sidebar div that contains all of my sidebar content and I think I want to add my widget towards the end so right before the ending sidebar div I'm going to just paste in the code that I just copied from Twitter and lets hit update preview and save it and now lets take a look. Great I have a Twitter widget now in the sidebar of my blog. Now lets say that I get tired of this look and I want to change it from this light theme to the dark theme. Well it's really easy. We just have to go back to Twitter and make sure that you are in your, the right widget, and all you need to do now is make your changes here so we're going to change the theme from light to dark and lets go ahead and hit save, okay, and go back to our blog and refresh it and there we go. Now we have a dark themed Twitter widget in the blog. I hope that wasn't too hard for you to follow. The best part about this is that you only need to embed the widget once and all your subsequent changes on Twitter.com will be reflected on your Tumblr blog.
