Hi, I’m Lisa Nielson, beauty maven and celebrity makeup artist. And today, I’m talking about what to put on before stage makeup to prevent breakouts. So, if you’re an actor, whether you’re young or old, you know the concern that you have for your skin in terms of stage makeup can be pretty heavy, and it’s pretty full coverage. Therefore, it has to tend to be a little bit more greasy in nature. If you’re acne-prone, that’s going to really, could really wreak havoc on your skin. So, this is sort of a two-part question, and it’s a little bit tricky. I think that what you do before you put on that stage makeup is really, really important. But, I equally think it’s super important what you do after. So, when you’re through with the performance, you want to quickly remove that makeup. Make sure that you wash your face really, really well. Maybe wash it twice to make sure that you got all makeup residue off. What I would advise to put on before and to actually treat after washing your face is just a really nice benzoyl peroxide treatment acne treatment gel. And, even if you’re not a person who tends to suffer from breakouts, I think if you would apply this in preparation before putting on the really heavy cream foundation that they use for stage, you’ll find that you break out a whole lot less. So, were going to go ahead and mimic that situation, just apply a benzoyl peroxide to her skin. And she, of course, has beautiful skin, but if she were under those conditions with the harsh lighting and the heavy, heavy makeup, she might find that she was having some breakout issues that she didn’t normally have. So, you want to work primarily in the T-zone. So, if you were to draw a T across your forehead, the top line of the T being here, then down the nose and into the chin area. Those are the areas that you’re going to want to concentrate the acne treatment, whichever gel or lotion you choose. And then, some actors actually find that they break out more in the cheek area and along the jawline when they’re using that type of makeup. So, you want to sort of spread this out. Let that set for a few minutes before you were to apply your stage makeup. And, that will just sort of kill the bacteria. It’ll certainly help to prevent breakouts that you don’t want. That, in combination with a good cleansing routine, I think is going to be really helpful. Okay, great! So, I’m Lisa Nielson, and that is what I would recommend to apply before your stage makeup to help you to prevent breakouts.
