Hi, I'm Eric Watson at Watson's Hat Shop in historical Cave Creek, Arizona. Here at Watson's Hat Shop we make fine tailored custom hats built to any style. Today I'm going to let you know not to starch a felt hat because starch will ruin the felt on the hat. So to answer that question: Can you starch a felt hat? The answer is no and the reason is, is because the starch and the component of what it's made up of, after it hardens up it'll leave residue. It'll harden certain areas in the felt that you do not want to be hardened. And you do not want to use any starch on a wool hat, European hare rabbit fur felt or specifically not even on a beaver fur felt hat. So, once again, I'm Eric Watson, with Watson's Hat Shop and come visit us. Thank you.
