How to Germinate Rosemary

Hi, I'm Farm to Table Chef, Teca Thompson at Tecathompson.com, and today we're talking about how to germinate rosemary. So here I have some beautiful rosemary just to example what we're going for. I'm going to start with a small container, filled three quarters of the way full with all-purpose potting soil and then I'll just take my rosemary seeds. They are very small seeds so I suggest placing them in a little glass bowl so you can just see them a lot better and I'm going to take about five seeds and I'm just going to place them all around the bowl, I mean the pot, sorry. Okay so once you've done that, you want to cover them the rest of the way up with all-purpose potting soil. Now these actually take about 15 to 25 days to germinate so definitely be patient on these and make sure to keep them in a warm area with plenty of sunlight and to water them. So I'm just going to water our little seeds we just planted and as always we're going to thin them out. So we're going to wait for the seeds to sprout and we're going to take the strongest ones and leave them in the pot and then we're going to pluck out the weakest ones and when they are about six inches tall you can transplant them either into a bigger pot like I have here or into your garden.
