Hi, my name is Michael Oxman, custom clothing and image consultant with Henry A. Davidsen in Center City Philadelphia, and today we're going to be discussing different color shirts to be worn with a black suit. First I'd like to start off the discussion by saying that a black suit is not great for daytime wear, not really for business, it's a little bit too stark, however, for the evening, for evening social occasions, for formal wear, for going out and also for mourning when it's spelled with a u, black suits are going to be very, very appropriate. So with that in mind, black is a very easy color to work with. Nearly anything on the color spectrum is going to work very very nicely with a black jacket. As you can see here on my mannikin, this blue shirt obviously works very, very well and a plain white shirt is going to work with nearly anything. So those two are going to be home runs. To give you a couple of different examples, however, start with a lavender. Lavender is going to be a really really great color to wear with black. It's a little bit more unique than your plain white or your plain blue, so this one we're a really big fan of here. Next up, pink. Pink is a great color. I always like to say that tough guys wear pink so don't be afraid of it. This particular shirt has a gray stripe in it. Always remember that as you add color and pattern to any garment, it becomes a bit more casual. So this pink shirt is going to be a little bit more casual than a plain white or a plain blue or even the lavender that we just saw. Next up for our most casual option here, we have a medium blue and black multi-colored check here. So this is going to be a very casual shirt, really really great for going out for drinks on a Friday or a Saturday night to leave unbuttoned at the collar to wear without a tie. So again my name is Michael Oxman, custom clothing and image consultant with Henry A. Davidsen in Center City Philadelphia and we are discussing which color shirts to wear with a black suit.
