Kymberley Williams-Evans here. And we've been asked, does the bicycle work the same muscles as running? Well, in general, yes. Alexandra's pedaling, she's mostly using quadriceps, there is some hamstrings and glute or a buttocks involvement. If she had really bad forms, she'd be using a ton of her calves, but she's keeping her heels dropped. So, she's using a little bit of lower body. The key difference between bicycling, whether on a stationary bike, or on a regular bicycle, and running, is actually impact, not so much which muscles you're using. But the impact, there's very little impact here, where as in running, there is. A little less glute dependent, a little more quad dependent. As Kimberly stated earlier, the best cardio is the one you'll do. So, some people like to come out on the gym floor and go on the bike. We're over here at Spectrum, and Kimberly is showing you one of her best cardio moves, the elliptical. So, if you enjoy walking, then the best cardio for burning fat, lengthening muscles, might be a treadmill. This is another great example of a cardio activity based on your personal preference. Kimberly's now here at Spectrum, showing you some running. It's essentially working the same muscles as bike riding. But a little bit more intensity on the calves and the shins, as well as more impact. As you can see, she has to land every time she moves, where as in the bike, you're attached to the pedal. So, that's really the main difference, so a little bit of difference in intensity and a lot of difference in impact. I'm Alexandra and that's Kimberly, we're with Fun and Fit at FunAndFit.org. And we hope that answers your questions about the differences between running and the bicycle.
