Hi, my name is Cathleen Tseng. I'm the Owner and Creative Director of Sunny Kilogram. You've probably seen Tumblr posts that fade in as you roll over them. It's really nice and subtle effect and it's really easy to achieve. But, you do have to get into the CSS code a little bit, so let's get started. Navigate to Tumblr and make sure you're logged in. And in the dashboard, click on the gear icon up here to edit the settings for your blog. Okay. And on the left hand side here, make sure that you choose the right blog that you want to add the fade to, if you have more than one. I don't, so it's okay for me. So, I'm just going to go ahead and click on that and next to the theme, select customize. And once this page loads, click on the edit HTML button on the left hand side. Great. Now, we're in the HTML and CSS of the blog. HTML and CSS together control the presentation of content on your blog. More specifically, CSS which stands for Cascading Style Sheets determine things like you know, the colors, the shapes and other look and feel properties of everything that you see. Okay. So, we're going to modify the CSS of the blog a little bit to add fade to our posts. Now, I've actually already written a little bit of code here, so you can just go ahead and copy and apply it to your blog as well. And what we're utilizing really is a CSS three property called transition. And we're changing, as you can see, we're changing the opacity and we're changing it with time. So, that, those two things together create the illusion of a fade. Okay. So, let's go ahead and copy this code and let's go back to the Tumblr HTML and let's search for bracket slash style. Okay. And what we're doing here is we're searching for the end of the style tag. So, the, the end of the CSS. Okay. And right before that, let's hit return a few times and create some room for the CSS code that we just copied, okay. And then, let's go ahead and paste that in. Cool. Make it look a little nicer by lining things up, but that's not required. And after that, all we're going to do is hit update preview and let's go ahead and save that. And let's navigate to my blog and refresh that. Okay. And now, when we roll over, notice that there's a nice, very subtle but nice effect, fade effect towards the post. And that's one nifty trick you can apply to your Tumblr to make it more visually interesting. Thanks for watching, I'm Cathleen Tseng. Until next time, take care.
