Back when I was looking for inspiration for my wedding I had piles and piles of magazines and scrapbooks and file folders. Well I’m going to show you how to trade in all this for this, an awesome new site called Pinterest. Life is crazy. I mean who has time to keep up with all the latest in social networking. I’m Carly Knoblach and if you stick with me I’ll show you all of the tech tools to get socially connected. Don’t know about Pinterest yet? Well you came to the right place. Pinterest is a visual social network that allows you to pin images to boards and then share those boards with friends. Browse other people boards and discover ideas for everything from cooking, and decorating, to technology and travel. And yes, even weddings all presented in a clean and elegant format. Ok now it’s time to start creating your boards. Choose from a large list of established categories that interest you. Oh I like this one. Oh and I like this one too. You can also set up your own categories. For instance these are some of mine. When you do you can use this drop down menu and mark off what broader categories your boards fall in to. Time to start pinning. Move this PinIt button up to your toolbar so whenever you come across an image online that you love just click it, select the photo you want, and then it will show up on your board. Each image includes a link back to the original site that you found it on. This makes pinning from your business website really useful as it can attract a lot of fresh eyes to your website. And if you have photos or videos on your desktop that you want to add press this button to upload them. Once you create your board you might get a few followers and now you have an audience for what you’re about to pin to it next. You can check out other people’s boards too and if you like their tastes go ahead and follow them. Pinterest is a social network so it’s a lot more fun when you’re following and being followed. Sound familiar? People can like your pins, comment on them, or repin your pictures to their own boards and you can do the same. Again, sounds familiar. And if you like set these options so you’re pins show up on your facebook feed and in your twitter stream. And for pinning on the go, there’s an app for that! Warning: Pinterest is highly addictive even if you’re not looking for something specific you can get lost for hours and hours searching people’s boards. Just saying. Now, back to you brides to be. Search weddings on Pinterest and you’ll find more ideas then you can toss a bouquet at. Create your own wedding board so you can share it with your florist, party planner, and brides maids. Just make sure there are now hot pink taffeta hoop dresses in there or I am totally not going to be your brides maid. To learn more about all things socially connected check out our other videos at eHow Tech and be sure to follow us on twitter. Oh, that is totally going on my board. Bye.
