Hi, I'm coach Morgan Johnson, and I'm here at the Playtime Performance Center in Dallas, Texas. Today, I'm going to show you some great way to loosen your hamstrings using yoga poses. There are a lot of great yoga exercises for making the hamstrings more flexible. I'm going to show you two today. For the first, if you aren't very flexible in your hamstrings and low back, I recommend using a prop, such as a folded up blanket or mat, to sit on before you begin the stretch. You're going to bring your feet so that they are straight out in front of you, feet flexed, with a nice, flat back, shoulders relaxed and down like you're trying to tuck your shoulder blades into your back pocket. Then, bring one knee into your chest. Adjust the buttock to bring the heel closer into the body so that the knee is flat against the chest. Then, you have two options to where to progress with the stretch from here. The first option is a basic forward stretch. Coming down to the other knee, and grabbing the toe, or if you're not quite flexible enough, coming and grabbing the shin or even the knee portion of the leg. You want to try to keep your back straight during this part of the stretch. The other option for this stretch is to take the right knee and to bring the right armpit in front of your knee and stretch the arms around, grabbing behind the back with both hands. The second stretch, you're going to lie down on your back while keeping one leg straight with the foot flat, you're going to bring the other knee into your chest. Then, either using your hands or your strap, you're going to straighten that leg up towards the ceiling. Breath into the stretch, and as you feel able, you can slightly deepen it by bending the elbows to bring the foot closer to the head. I'm Coach Morgan Johnson, and that was how to loosen your hamstrings using yoga poses. I'll see ya next time!
