Hi, I'm T. Cooper and I'm a New York based makeup artist and hairstylist and also co-founder of grooming and beauty business, Metro Look. Today I'm going to show you how to do a half up half down hairstyle with layers and bangs. My model right here she has layers and bangs and she has some texture in her hair because we used a one inch curling iron and we curled her hair but to create just a little bit more texture, I'm going to use a little bit of texturizing powder throughout her hair and I'm going to run it through just to give it a little bit more and it makes it a little more mat too which is a texture that I like to deal with when I'm doing fun updos and I like to do them just a little bit messy. So the more texture, the better and as you can see the texturizing powder, it disappears so you don't have to worry about having a white cast in your hair even if your hair is black. So, we are going to use a comb and section off the bangs in the front on both sides. You could section off the bangs on one side if you prefer to wear your hair that way, it's totally up to you. It's optional. Then, I'm going to section off some hair in the crown and turn you around this way so we can see it a little better, section off some hair in the crown, give the hair a good spray and then backcomb. I'm going to do about six and then I'm going to take another section right behind, I'm going to spray and then I'm going to backcomb six more times. This creates a lot of volume and texture in the hair which is cool, we'll utilize her layers. Then, I'm just going to take a little bit of hair in front of her ears and twist and bring it over here and I'm going to take a bobby pin and I'm going to pin that in place. Then, I'm going to take a piece of hair right in front of her ears off the other side, twist that right over where the other bobby pin was and I'm going to show you, I'm going to pin it up underneath the first twist so we hide it. Then you can use your tail comb to shape it as desired and then you're done. Give it a final spray it desired. I'm a big fan of spray and you're all set. I'm T.
