Hi, everyone. I'm hairstylist, Amanda Shackleton, from Amanda Shackleton.com, and I'm here today to tell you how to start building a hairstyling portfolio if you're a hairstylist and you're interested in possibly getting into the fashion industry. It's really really important that you have a portfolio so that you are able to show your clients what you can and cannot do with hair. The first thing you want to do is get a model, someone that has really beautiful hair that you can start working with and then you want to find a photographer whether it's a student photographer or whether it's a local wedding photographer or just really anyone that's interested in taking pictures with you and you are also going to want to get a makeup artist and the four of you can come together and start working on pictures for your book. Now that's called testing so you are going to want to do some testing for your portfolio and then once you start building pictures and building different looks of hairstyles that you do you can then start putting your portfolio together. You can either get a hard copy book from the art store which is just like a book with plastic pages in it that you can put your prints in or you can do alternatively a portfolio online which is just you know, on your website and you can just scroll through all your pictures. So once you get enough pictures you can start going to clients, salons, photographers and showing them your portfolio. I'm Amanda Shackleton, and I just taught you how to get together a portfolio if you are a hairstylist.
