Hi, I’m Erin Hendley, professional makeup artist, and today I’m here to show you how to prevent creasing on your lips. So, once we put our lipstick on, sometimes we notice that it creases up during the day. So, we’re going to take some preventative measures before we put our lipstick on. So, the first thing to do if you’re at home and you have a washcloth, it’s good to exfoliate, either with a toothbrush or a washcloth, just with a little bit of warm water, and get any of the dead skin that might be on your lips. You normally can’t see it, but you can definitely feel a difference once you’ve exfoliated them. It’s best to do that about twice a week. And so, after we have our skin and our lips moisturized and exfoliated, we’re going to go in with a little bit of a lip treatment, and that’s just to make sure that our lips are plenty hydrated, which eliminate the cracks in our lips before we put our lipstick on. If you want a fully matte lip, this does dry, and it’s not going to read glossy after a while, so don’t worry about that. This is really just a treatment. And, after that we can go in with our lipstick. You can see that the lines are already eliminated and they’re looking more hydrated, which is the key factor because we want to eliminate any texture before we put on our lipstick, not after. So, it’s basically just remembering the necessary steps before we apply that lipstick onto ourselves. If you want a really defined lip, a pencil is recommended, but those are things that do dry out the lip area. So, going straight to just a lipstick will help prevent the lines of the lips showing through. I’m Erin Hendley, and I just gave you some tips on how to prevent your lips from creasing when you wear lipstick.
