Hello, this is Nicholas Staddon from Monrovia, and we're gonna talk about the best place to plant a fig tree. So the first thing when you buy a fig tree, you go to the garden center, look for a plant that has a really good branching structure. On the label look for how big the plant will get because they're are taller varieties like Kadota and Brown Turkey and they're are shorter varieties like Peter's Honey and Black Jack and you'll see behind me this long white wall. Brown Turkey is a big grower so we're gonna plant Brown Turkey about 10 to 12 feet out from the wall, that's how wide he's gonna get. When you dig the hole about 2 and a 1/2 times the size of the root ball and nice mulch mixed up 50/50 with your own soil and remember to put some slow release fertilizer in there cause when figs get growing they grow quickly and they need lots of grub for those beautiful figs what they're gonna give for you. They like to be a little bit on the moist side but over an extended period will become drought tolerant. So those are a few key points for having great figs in your garden. This is Nicholas Staddon from Monrovia on where to plant a fig tree in your garden.
