Hi, welcome back to the Cave Cam. I'm Coach PJ at CPJ Fitness in San Diego, California. Today, I'm going to talk to you about the difference between running on a treadmill versus running outdoors. On a treadmill, you're in a more controlled environment where the treadmill does all the programming for you, keeps the speed for you. It gives you a different course and time duration, all you have to do is run versus being outdoors you have to control the speed yourself. You have to be aware of your footing and your balance on running on the street, be it on the grass or out on a trail. You also have to keep the speed up on your own. The other thing too is that there's weather issues, it could be the sun, raining, all that kind of stuff where and again on a treadmill it's a more controlled environment. It's a more easier impact on the knees, the padding is very soft where outside, if you have any issues, it could be little more ground and pound for you. So those are a few major differences between running on a treadmill versus running outdoors.
